Displaced persons to receive Rs.50, 000 on resettlement
Internally Displaced Persons who will be resettled hereafter will receive a total of Rs.50, 000.
Earlier IDPs who were resettled received a cash of Rs.5000 plus a subsistence of Rs.20, 000 deposited in their saving bank account.
From now onwards, according to the Senior Presidential Advisor Basil Rajapaksa who is also the chief of the President's Task Force for Rehabilitation and Resettlement told Asian Tribune that another Rs.25,000 would be given as “work for cash.”
Senior Basil Rajapaksa also said that all restrictions on the Internally Displaced Persons in the Wanni will be lifted from December 1. He added that they will be given the freedom of movement and could go wherever they wish and return to the IDP centers if they do not find a suitable place to stay.
Furthermore, President's l Advisor said that Sri Lanka President Mahinda Rajapaksa has ordered the resettlement of every single displaced person in by January 31.
He further said that at present there are 130,000 IDPs left in the welfare centers to be resettled.
