Mano Ganesan to skip today’s meeting with General (retd.) Fonseka

By K.T.Rajasingham
Colombo, 24 November, (Asiantribune.com):

Mano_Ganesh3.jpgMano Ganesan MP has decided to skip today’s meeting arranged with General (retd.) Saratah Fonseka.

Leader of the Western People's Front earlier told that his party is keeping their options open on the presidential election, but he said today that he will not be able to meet Sarath Fonseka as he has his party meeting.

“On the whole, we are deciding about the presidential election at our Polibureau meeting on the 26th November evening,” Mano Ganesan said firmly.

When Asian Tribune asked whether he and his party would only consider about supporting the General (retired) Fonseka or else they will decide also the possibility of supporting President Mahinda Rajapaksa too?

“No, what I am saying is that we will be discussing on all the available options, he said.

He elaborated “Yes all the available aspects, not only about Rajapakse, not only about Sarath Foneska, there are some other options also.

When asked to clarify, Mano Ganesan said, “No, there are other options like bringing in a third candidate.

We have not decided about any personalities or on any particular person, but we may decide on that also. “

He added: “There are four options available for the Tamils in this presidential election: One - being the President, Second - is the common oppositional candidate, Third - is the Tamil candidate or candidate of the Tamils and fourth - is the boycott.

He said, “I am personally against boycotting. I expressed my opposition against the boycott even in the 2005 Presidential election.

When asked whether he discussed the issue regarding the forthcoming presidential election with R. Sampanthar MP, who is the parliamentary leader of the TNA, he said, when they all met in Zurich, “Yes, we discussed various options with Sampanthar . Not only with Sampanthar, but also with Suresh Premachandiran, Mavai S. Senadhiraja and Gajendhirkumar Ponnambalam. We discussed various options but due to confidentiality, I may not be able to talk about what we discussed. I hope you understand.

Asian Tribune pointed out that TNA has three major groups. If one group comes forward to work in favor of Sarath Fonseka there is a likelihood of TNA splitting, did you hear anything about this?

“Yes, there are various options and it is visible that some TNA members are going out of their way in backing the Government. Some are taking the extremist track. Then of course it leaves the third component which you are correct about.

Asian Tribune brought it to the notice of Mano Ganesan, that there are former LTTE members of Parliament like Selvarajah Kajendiran and others, who will not like either President Mahinda Rajapaksa or Foneska.

He quipped, “Maybe “

When asked whether he is aware that the Batticaloa and Amaparai district TNA MPs are in favor of President Rajaspaksa’s candidature, as the political environment in those areas are more delicate that they have to support one or the other as a matter of their political survival.

Mano Ganesan said that if they are to support the government because of their personal safety, then that is not a welcome political environment.”

When Asian Tribune posed a question “Have you heard of the allegations that has been trickling in since of late, against General (retd.) Foneska?

“The arms deal? That was right, we learnt as being the part of the Government that is why he has resigned he cannot be blamed as everyone else.

Asian Tribune also pointed out that as being a part of the government, as a commander in chief of the army, his duty is to kill, no problem about that, because he was responsible for the killing of Tamil civilians. We think for that he was paid a salary by the government. On top of it he should not look for other ventures for income generation.

Mano Ganesan said what I fail to understand is why this is coming out at this time. Why did it not come out earlier?

Why not now. You may be aware there was a heated arguments when a shipment of arms were turned back by the Secretary of Defence in August 2009. This was said to be the issue that prompted General (retired) Fonseka to tender his letter of retirement after enjoying four times his annual extension in service from the Army.

I don’t know, however we are studying all the issues and our party will take a decision on 26 November, Mano Ganesan concluded.

Mano Ganesan is trying to

Mano Ganesan is trying to fool his followers trying taking double standards on his leadership. He is famous for his fiery speeches given in Canada during the war slandering this bogus General and the government. How on earth he can support this General, even associating him.
Then the issue of commission made by son of a gun of SF. As Mr. Rajaratnam is eloquently researched and publish elsewhere in Asian Tribune, what answers the bogus general has for minting money over and above his salary. Mano Ganesan is asking why this information now? He should understand that up to 15th of October SF was the Chief of Defense Staff. Today is only the 24th. Mr. Rajasingham has done a timely job by bringing lots of information. The General was trying to get sympathy from the people on vacating the official residence, but he has several other palaces around Sri Lanka rented out. His son in law is believed to have invested 150 million in a luxury flat. This man is very mean when you gather more and more facts.
Mano should steer away from these types of parasites if he wants to be in political lime light. SF will drag several other politicians with him on his down fall. The suppression of media by the huge amount of commissions he illegally made have to come to light shortly.

Why a puppet leader of a "Three wheeler" party gets this much of publicity?
