Best Corporate Citizens 2009 short list

The judges of the Best Corporate Citizens Awards 2009 organized by the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce (CCC) are involved in the tough process of evaluating the competitors as the 6th CSR Awards Night is nearing – 10th December.

Mahinda Samarasinghe, Minister of Disaster Management and Human Rights will be Chief Guest while the Guest of Honour would be Attorney General, Mohan Peiris, who is also the Chairman of the Panel of Judges.

Prof. Anona Armstrong, Director of the Centre for International Corporate Governance Research at Victoria University, Melbourne, Australia, is slated as the Keynote Speaker.

The main objectives of the awards are to raise awareness on the importance of CSR to the business community and to promote and encourage CSR practices amongst the corporate sector.

The CSR awards will be a measure of the rankings of the services of a corporate entity to its stakeholders – customers, shareholders, employees, environment, and the community. Adoption of CSR practices will also enhance social acceptance of companies through ethically responsible behavior.

All private and public companies and Government owned business enterprises were eligible to apply for the Best Corporate Citizen Awards.
