Bogus Tamil Politicians
TNA is doing the same old thing trying to divide the country through backdoor mechanism. All along it was evident that they will never support a ruling party but join any group who can bring down a government to divide the country. The association with Sarath Fonseka is only to bring down the current government, and the next it will be standing against SF to bring down whatever his administration if in case he come to power. Though these people talk about marginalizing the Tamil people never they have worked for Tamil people. If a similar situation arose in Tamil Nadu with a minority Sinhala population, they would have been kicked out of Tamil Nadu within a few hours. The emergency rule was there to protect people, and majority part UNP benefited from it to suppress the opposition. Anyway let us see how things work out for the Presidential Election.
As regards TNA never
As regards TNA never supporting a ruling party but any group who can bring down a government to divide the country, I fully agree with Raju. However it is too premature for Raju, who appears to be a strong supporter of MR, to say that UNF can bring down the government. Unholy alliances are nothing new. TNA is another alliance. As Snr. Attorney SL Gunasekera has pointed out alliances and proportional representation deny the people their right to choose honest and law abiding citizens as their representatives.
Now both lead candiadtes have the backing of alliances; UPFA for MR and UNF for SF. The difference is that UPFA is a registered alliance and UNF is an unregistered alliance. On one hand UPFA is stronger because it is registered and the parties have signed agreements. On the other hand UNF is stronger because its unregistered status allows the people who support the parties in the alliance freedom to decide on the alliance's choice of candidate. Are we gradually entering into a choice of parliament without political parties? If that happens then it is a victory for democracy.
TNA members should decide
TNA members should decide once and for all where their political loyalties lie, in Lanka
or Tamil Nadu. Those who love Tamil Nadu above Lanka should migrate there, and those who love Lanka should stay on in Mother Lanka, loyally working for the whole of Lanka. They are very welcome in Lanka, their true Homeland which feeds, clothes, shelters, educates & heals all the Lankan Tamils. Being loyally Lankan will heal post war wounds in every community in Lanka.
