Ms Alikie Perera, New Deputy Secretary General, CCC
Mrs. Alikie Perera assumed duties as the Deputy Secretary General, Ceylon Chamber of Commerce (CCC) effective 31st December 2009 upon retirement of Malcolm Atton. Mr Perera prior to her appointment as DSG was Additional Deputy Secretary General/Financial Controller.
Mr Atton, who served 40 years at CCC could be the longest served senior Chamber Executive in its history. His dedicated service enabled the creation of the current Foreign Trade Information Division of the Chamber in 1974, the only specialized business information service among all Chambers. As a member of the Chamber Senior Management he has worked with the Exporters Association and Bilateral Business Councils.
He was also instrumental in organizing the first Business Convention (Present Economic Summit) and successfully managed the NORAD funded Matchmaking Programme since its inception in 1994. He, as the Deputy Secretary General, played an active role in matters pertaining to the Chamber Committee and Standing Committee ‘A’ and has always been relied upon for guidance on Chamber rules, practices, traditions and advice on sensitive administration issues.
Ms Perera joined the Chamber in 1993. and in addition to be responsible for the efficient management of the Chamber finances for the past 16 years, has gained experience in handling all other aspects of the Chamber. She has undergone extensive training in management of Chamber activities both locally and overseas. Ms. Alike is a qualified Accountant by profession and has a Masters in Business Management.
