Sri Lankans must elect highly skilled and experience political leader as the President
On 26 January 2010, Sri Lankans will decide their future by electing their favourite candidate as next executive president of Sri Lanka. Although there are 22 candidates in the race main competition is recorded between the incumbent president Mahinda Rajapaksha and UNP-JVP hired candidate former Army Commander General Sarath Fonseka.
Although Sarath Fonseka has 40 years military experience he has no political experience to become a leader of the country. If anyone has genuine desire to become a politician or political leader that person must start from grass root level of any political party by taking membership of the party and working together with party members as a team to achieve targets of their team.
Sarath Fonseka worked in the Sri Lankan Security forces under Gotabaya Rajapaksha as a senior member of forces. It is quite clear that he has failed to maintain cordial relationship between him and his team leader.
This has surfaced according to the way he levelled charges against defence secretary and his minister. The Sunday Leader which is the only paper openly supported the election campaign of Sarath Fonseka , revealed the real anger of Sarath Fonseka against his boss ,Secretary of the defence. His comments on him and other security officials have severely jeopardised the national security of Sri Lanka.
According to Sarath Fonseka, he was separated from his Army Commander position to other position on advice of Indian government that Fonseka was planning to take over the government by military action.
If the Government received such advice government could not simply ignore it rather than taking preventative actions. In this case Government had to carefully watch the behaviour of Sarath Fonseka wether he has genuine desire to take over the leadership of the country. Current presidential election simply shows that Fonseka has genuine desire or he was forced to become the leader of the country although he has no necessary skills and experience to become the President of Sri Lanka.
It is quite clear that Sarath Fonseka has been taken in to the political arena by Somawansa- Mangala- Ranil triangle. Why Ranil, Somawansa or Mangala did not have the guts to use their years long political skills and experience to contest at the presidential election as a candidate against president Mahinda Rajapaksha.
They already knew their fate as they have been rejected by the mass.
Ranil and Somawansa are cunning political leaders. They have strong ambitious to stay in politic as long as they want despite opinions of members of their political parties.
Ranil did not want to bring any one from his party to contest at the election as this might end up his political life as the leader of the party. In order to save his political party and himself without driving in to a massive defeat at the election, these three with the assistance of some others brought Sarath Fonseka to the political arena to contest against Mahinda Rajapaksha.
Although Mahinda has clear policies which are aim at developing infra structure of the country, Sarath Fonseka only has JVP-UNP formulated fabrications against Mahinda Rajapaksha on corruption. He has recently promised to remove the High Security Zone in Jaffna and to convert Palai air base as an international airport. He has no innovative policies in developing the country.
People of Sri Lanka have been given last chance in the history to change Sri Lanka as a developed nation or staying as a poor country for many years depending on the west.
Sri Lankans must elect highly skilled and experience political leader as the President of the country at the Presidential Election 2010 for benefits of people of Sri Lanka and the international community.
