Tamil Community Knows It Is the President Who Made a Free Country for Them – Minister Anura Yapa
Tamil National Alliance (TNA) had cracked into several factions and its "Sampanthan Faction" is in a effort to take revenge on the United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) leader and President Mahinda Rajapaksa, revealed Cabinet spokesman and Media and Information Minister Anura Priyadharshana Yapa , at the weekly press briefing held at the Government Information Department.
Minister Yapa revealed that it was the President who restored law and order, peace, stability, democracy and the right of Tamils to live in the North and East. “The only thing the whole the country asked from the President was to defeat the terrorism and he accomplished the people’s request facing both local and international pressure, to stop the war against the LTTE”, the Minister revealed.
Speaking about the TNA group Leader R.Sampanthan’s decision to support the Opposition candidate General Sarath Fonseka , Minister Yapa said that the Tamils who suffered at the hands of the LTTE will never forget that it was President Rajapaksa who made the country free.
He further said that the resettlement project which is being implemented these days is the most successful and speediest resettlement project ever undertaken in the world. The Minister further added that the the Unite4d Peoples Freedom Alliance government did not just ask them to go to their original places, but also made available for them livelihood means with mega infrastructure development.
Minister Yapa also reminded on some mega developments projects which have already been implemented by the regime after liberation of the area from the LTTE clutches. Adding more the minister pointed out that billions of rupees have been invested to redevelop the Kankasanthurai harbour. "That sum is much more than the investment allocated for the Hambantota harbor project", Minister outlined.
Minister Yapa said that he did not believe that Sampanthan had a strong voice in the party as well as among the Tamil community. "We can assume that the TNA has embarked upon a revengeful journey against the President as they were always helpful for the disastrous LTTE terror outfit", the Minister added.
