Swedish National attacked and in Coma stage in The Philippines

Manila, 09 January, (Asiantribune.com):

Sweed2.JPGAn incident in front of the Doll House resulted in a Swedish National (Thomas Bergelin), being knocked to the ground, kicked in the head repeatedly, knocked unconscious and is now lying in the Angeles Medical Center in a coma like state. The doctors are not sure how much of a recovery he will make.

Allegedly, the incident took place around 0200 hrs, 22 Dec and involved a Mamasan and a member of the internal security force employed by the Doll House.

A source informed us that the foreigner was accused of leaving the premises without paying his bill but in truth, the girl he was with was inside paying the bill at the time he was attacked.

Supposedly the Mamasan slapped the foreigner and when he went to grab the Mamasan in defense, the guard grabbed him and knocked him down. Then, allegedly, the Mamasan, the guard and the door boy continually kicked the man in the head while he was down on the ground.

This resulted in brain damage, bleeding from the ear, internal bleeding from both sides of the brain and both eyes blackened. The Doll House management claims that it was an "accident".

Sweedish1.JPGAn interview with the victim was impossible as he was not conscious when I received this information.

Right now, the following establishments come under the Doll House Group: Doll House, Crystal Palace, Baby Dolls (previously Byrd Cage), Tropics, Atlantis, Pony Tail (Darn I like this one, decent Expat management here), Club Asia and what were the Blue Nile Executive Club.

There is also a lot of sexual abuse of the night club workers but neither the Night Club owners nor the law enforcement seems to care.

Angeles City is not only the number one Sin City in Philippines, but a major crime city. F. Rovik from the NAT has appealed to the Philippine National Police (PNP), National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) and Gloria Aquino to improve the law enforcement in Angeles City, but to no prevail.

The lawlessness and the problems in the nightlife industry could hamper investments to the Philippines. NAT has recommended closing down the Norwegian Embassy in Manila and replacing it with a consulate, resulting in the possible loss of 38.000 Filipino sailors on Norwegian vessels. Texas Instruments one of the main clauses for stabling themselves in Pampanga was security. Where is the security when foreigners get killed, maimed and injured?

Lawlessness increases the probability of terrorist attacks and Al-Qaida has previously target Nightlife clubs in Manila, but by pure luck and an honest police officer this was avoided.

The Philippines should consider closing down the negligent Nightlife industry, increase law enforcement or lose hundred thousands of decent workplaces.
