How to demonstrate independence, accountability and transparency in corporate boards

By Quintus Perera – Asian Tribune
Colombo, 14 January, (Asiantribune.com):

Today's corporate boards find themselves under pressure to demonstrate independence, accountability, and transparency.

Targeting these critical issues of as to how to demonstrate independence, accountability and transparency in Corporate Boards, the Sri Lanka Institute of Directors will launch a training programme on “Corporate Stewardship and Board Room Governance” to help directors and other senior managers (likely to become directors in the future), and new or experienced directors, cultivate leadership and meet their complex obligations as stewards of public and private companies.

These training programmes aim at helping the participant directors to stay up-to-date on their legal, fiduciary and ethical responsibilities by fostering interaction among peers, experts and practitioners in the fields of business and regulations.

The programme is spread over a period of 6 months, designed in a unique and interactive manner, specifically for busy professionals. This programme is open to guests from the private and public sector as well. Further, the individual modules will feature between 5 to 8 resource personnel drawn from a pool of very senior, and respected, professionals, who will not only add value through their knowledge and experience but will also act as inspirational role models to participants.

SLID was founded in April 2000 for the purpose of serving the professional needs of the Corporate Director. The membership of SLID has, hitherto, been restricted to Board Members of Corporate entities, Partners of professional practices and Senior Managers and Sole Proprietors.
