Sri Lanka President Leads The Election Campaign With Projected 67% Votes – SLFP General Secretary
President Mahinda Rajapaksa will obtain 67 per cent of the votes that would be cast on January 26, predicted, SLFP General Secretary, Maithripala Sirisena.
Main Opposition United National Party (UNP) and the People’s Liberation Front (JVP) knew from the very beginning that they are not going to win the presidential election, said Minister Maithreepala Sirisena.
General Secretary of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) and Minister of Agriculture Maithreepala Sirisena addressing a media team in Colombo further said, “Left only nine days for the election, the opposition candidate General Sarath Fonseka too has realized that he can’t defeat President Mahinda Rajapaksha. He has lost his conscious and begun to utter inappropriate words on political stages in front of the general public, Minister Maithreepala Sirisena addressing a media team in Colombo”.
Minister Sirisena said that President’s humanitarian operation in the North and East provinces and mega development projects all over the island have augmented the president’s popularity in the country and the General Fonseka has lessen his voter base with his inappropriate words on stages.

Minister Sirisena said that both the UNP and the JVP have begun unleashing thuggery on the innocent United People’s Freedom Alliance members and supporters. ‘
SLFP is warning them not introduce the culture of thuggery in the country again, as we had proven them how to conduct a free and fair election in 2005. The presidential election in 2005 is the most free and fair election in the country and we are to practice that culture in the country’, the Minister added.
Minister speaking over an alleged agreement of the Opposition’s common candidate with the Tamil National Alliance, said that people will not anyhow accept anyone’s effort to separate the country.
“TNA brought the same document of proposal to the President Mahinda Rajapaksha. He had a look at it said ‘I do not even like to talk on these subjects and he left the place leaving alone the TNA MPs in the room”. The Minister explained.
"President Rajapksha really loves the country and always wishes to upholds its sovereignty”, the Minister added.
