Ten industries already at Flinth Industrial Park in Kadawatha
Flinth Industrial Park – a high quality industrial park at Ranmuthugala Estate, Kadawatha opened to industries recently. The Park provides buildings, administrative services and qualified employees to demanding multinational manufacturing companies.
It is on a lush land in Kadawatha, keeping the environmental issues in mind when designed, and it offers world class production facilities for at present 10 companies. These companies are now occupying around 20,000 sq mts.
Rune Flinth, Chairman, Flinth Industrial Park (Pvt) Ltd at the opening of the Park said that the Park is based on a concept which is a synthesis of his entrepreneurial experiences from running companies for more than 40 years.
He said that these companies have been in various fields and countries, some in his native country Sweden and some abroad and many of these in his second home Sri Lanka. The companies in Sri Lanka – Flintec Transducers, Straintec, Toroid International and Swedlanka are all BOI ventures which provide employment to a large number of Sri Lankans and vocational training.
What make the Flinth Industrial Park unique are the total administrative services provided to the companies in the Park enabling each company to focus on its production and to realize its visions. Recruitment and training of personnel, sourcing of raw material and equipment, book keeping and financial analysis and implementation of adequate quality assurance systems are examples of tasks taken care of by Flinth Industrial Park through qualified specialists, which though being shared among several companies become affordable to each of them.
He said that he is not deterred by war, conflict and other constraints in investing in Sri Lanka and as such he has been in Sri Lanka for the last 23 years in establishing several enterprises under BOI.
He said that it is an investment of USD 11 million and already seven million USD is spent on the project. He said that he started his industries in Sri Lanka 23 years and is a veteran investor where he has number of other companies functioning in his home country Sweden, UK and USA in addition to Sri Lankan investments.
He said that his investments were not affected by the conflict and as the conflict is now over, he is stay put to make further investments in Sri Lanka. He said that for the usage of modern high tech, well trained personnel are needed and found that Sri Lankans are trainable in any trade and said that he appreciated the high quality of Sri Lankan engineers.
Dhammika Perera, Chairman/ Director General, Board of Investment of Sri Lanka speaking conceded that setting up of these industrial parks is the duty of the government, but it is greatly appreciated that foreign private sector establishing them. He said that such other private sector facilitation is set up in Thulhiriya.
He complemented Mr Flinth for the industrial prowess and visionary. To introduce new ideas and concepts to the enterprises of Mr Flintch.
He said that Mr Flinth is in line with the commitment of BOI to create conditions that will develop a diversified economy where technological transfer is a top a priority and said that it has shown signs of being realized, here at Flinth Industrial Park.
