Opposition is getting ready for poll violence
The country is being warned of subversive activities planned by the opposition and the western countries to create an Iran like situation and carry out a propaganda campaign that the Government rigged the election and robbed the victory of Sarath Fonseka.
Asian Tribune has already has come up with the plan of the Western countries to force the Election Commissioner to annul the Presidential poll, warning there are widespread violence and it is creating a situation that is not conducive to have the polling as scheduled.
As reported in our earlier news item lot of pressure was brought to bear on the Election Commissioner. But Election Commissioner failed to buy the argument of these foreign forces.
As stated earlier, a gallop poll was secretly conducted by on the initiatives of the Embassies of USA, Canada, Switzerland and Norway. Western countries work to a plan to force an annulment of the Presidential election
After the poll these embassies are to quietly leak to the foreign press that the opposition candidate has convincingly polled 53 percentage of the total votes polled, but the government has robbed of him of his genuine victory by stuffing the ballot boxes.
It is learnt that Sarath Fonseka’s campaign organization has printed 300,000 Tshirts with SF printed in the back and are distributing secretly urging people to march on 26 and 27 to create a Iran like situation in Sri Lanka.
They have been instructed to burn down state buses and government properties in many towns and villages and create mayhem to show that public is protesting against the victory of Sri Lanka President Mahinda Rajapaksa and to allege that Government has robbed the victory of Sarath Fonseka.
They think that once a disturbance is created, either the Army or police might use force to put the down the disturbance or if by chance someone is killed they might proceed further from there as momentum gathers and continue with the agitation in the country.
These Embassies have invited more than 40 to 50 foreign journalists and news organizations to cover these subversive actions in their media to show the world that people are opposing the election results which was won by stuffing the ballot boxes with the help of the Sri Lankan Army and other Sri Lankan armed forces.
These foreign journalists were seen following opposition candidate Sarath Fonseka in total to pay homage to Horogolla – the Samadhis of the Bandaraniakes.
Asian Tribune learnt that already Norway has given Euro 1.5 million to the Transparency International in Sri Lanka to come up with adverse reports about the victory of Rajapaksa.
Also the four countries led by US have heavily funded their local agents in Sri Lanka --- namely Visaka Dharmadasa, the Chairperson of the Association of War Affected Women (AWAW); Jehan Perera of the National Peace Council of Sri Lanka and Dr. Pakiasothy Saravanamuthu of the Centre For Policy Alternatives to carry on with the anti-government propaganda campaign.
In the meantime, The Special Task Force personnel recovered 54 grenades and two T-56 weapons from Bodhirajarama Temple in Maligawatte on 23rd evening, Military spokesman Brigadier Udaya Nanayakkara said.
It is alleged that these military items were stored for using to unleash violence by the main opposition on the eve of the Presidential elections.
Furthermore, it was reported that Parliamentarian Wimal Weerawansa has said that the chief incumbent of the temple Ven. Uwathenne Suman Thero is an active supporter of the United National Party who has publicly campaigned for Gen. Fonseka’s candidature.
Army spokesperson told Asian Tribune that they are following the situation very closely and they are ready to preempt the organizers who are preparing to disrupt the elections and create chaos in the country.
The Army spokesman also said that they have already identified the leaders of this destructive campaign and once they try to make a move they will be apprehended and law and order will be maintained. A free and fair election will be conducted in the country, the spokesman added.
