Swiss Radio scribe asked to leave country for wrong reporting

By K T Rajasingham
Colombo, 30 January (Asiantribune.com):

The Swiss journalist who reported an unsubstantiated allegation that the Election Commissioner was a “prisoner” under the present ruler, has been asked to leave the country.

The Swiss scribe’s report stated that “Basil Rajapaksa is holding the Election Commissioner in Custody.”

According to a Government spokesman Ms. Karin Wenger of the Swiss Public Radio based in New Delhi, arrived on a temporary accreditation for the election coverage, and she has been asked to leave the country.

The government spokesperson said Karin Wenger was issued with a temporary two- week visa for the election reporting.

It was reported that in all the press briefing she participated she had a habit of asking uncomfortable questions unbecoming of a journalist.

The spokesman said she was repeatedly briefed of the journalistic culture that prevailed in the country and told her to be a journalist representing a reputed Swiss Radio station.

The line of her questions clearly indicated her vested interest which amounts to heaping allegations on the Presidential contender incumbent Mahinda Rajapaksa and his team involved in the election campaign.

Finally, she came out with a report to allege that Basil Rajapaksa MP, who is the younger brother of President Rajapaksa, and his campaign manager, holding under his custody, the Election Commissioner.

Following this unsubstantiated report Karin Wenger has been asked to leave the country by 01 February.

Tell her to go fight for minority and religious rights in Switzerland against chauvinistic intolerant whites persecuting the muslim population.

A shame for the Journalists!

A shame for the Journalists! She is certainly a separatist and an enemy of the Sri Lankan Nation. I have no doubts that she is a hired person by the separatists who still want this country to be divided in to pieces. She should be banned from entering this country forever.
