Sri Lanka: Bernard Goonatillake resigns from the chairmanships of the Tourism Boards

One of Sri Lanka’s senior diplomat Bernard Goonatillake, who was the Chairperson of both the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority and the Tourism Promotion Bureau resigned yesterday from his posts.
Mr. Goonatillake had a meeting with the Minister of Tourism Achala Jagoda and subsequently he tendered his resignation from the chairmanship of both the corporation in the Ministry of Tourism.
It is learnt that the new Tourism Minister is involved in effecting new changes in the tourist promotion and has decided to come up with some new changes.
Accordingly to facilitate the Minister to implement his proposed changes Mr. Goonetilake tendered his resignation. After his resignation, he met the staff of the corporation and informed them of his intention to leave.
When Asian Tribune contacted Mr. Goonatilake he confirmed that he has resigned from the chairmanship of both the corporations in the Tourism Ministry.
When asked about his future plans, he said that he will take a few days off before seriously thinking about his future.
