President Invites Sri Lankan To Join In The Development War
President Mahinda Rajapaksha, addressing the nation at the 62nd Independence Day celebrations in Kandy, assured that as the 30 years long war was over, his regime will fully dedicate to regain what the country lost during the period of civil war.
President Rajapksha speaking in both Sinhala and Tamil languages said that the dedication, discipline and bribe and corruption free administration will drive the country for prosperity. “The “Mahinda Chinthana – extended version” will be implemented soon for proposed target”, he told the gathering in Kandy.
He also noted that as the country was united in defeating the LTTE terror outfit, about which the world said “cannot be defeated,” now after defeating the terror outfit, the government is to win the hearts of all the communities with confidence.
Noting that this is the first celebration since the defeat of terrorism, the President said that now the people can live in peace and in safety and go anywhere they wish without fear or restrictions. He further added that that the country should solve its own problems through dialogue urging the Tamil people not to forget their motherland. At the same time he also requested all communities not to be misled by some people who seek only for petty political gains.
President Rajapaksa also added that he had not taken a single decision which would betray the country and all his decisions were in the best interest of the nation. Speaking over the fresh mandate given him on January 26 at the presidential elections, he said that his only ambition is now driving the country towards the prosperity.
President also reiterated that the country has just begun to reap the benefits of defeating the terrorism. He also said that the western world had shown a keen interest on Sri Lanka after we eliminated the terrorism and no sooner, the country will receive immense benefit.
President also invited all to join the development war which has begun under the United Peoples Freedom Alliance government and reiterated that the the recent presidential election victory has ushered a new democratic era against the threat of dictatorship.
