US Consul General in Chennai Andrew Simkin in the presence of educationalists Mrs Y G Parthasarathy, who is the brainchild of Billroth Hospitals Managing Director and Dr V Jeganathan and 'Foundation' Founder Dr Rajesh Jeganathan launched the unique awareness creating programme to create awareness about early diagnosis of the much dangerous disease of the hour - cancer.

Dr. Rajesh, Cancer Specialist while speaking about the awareness programme, told the reporters that Cancer undoubtedly has now became a killer disease which has no remedy better than early detection. He added that the foundation's endeavor was that no one suffers due to lack of awareness.

"Through this programme, the Foundation would remove the misconceptions from the minds of the people that cancer was incurable, educate both the literate and the illiterate about the magnitude and seriousness of the disease with stress on risk factors, educate people on the need for periodical health checkups and screening, besides urging the people to quit smoking and chewing of tobacco" , he added.

He also said that Cancer survivors and crusaders of the dreaded disease would be involved in the outreach programme.

The principle aim of Canswers stands to remove ignorance as studies reveal that more than 54 per cent (as per WHO report) of cancer-affected poeple were blissfully unaware of their illness till they reached the terminal stage with cure becoming almost impossible.

The Adayar Cancer institute , added to the awareness camp whereSchool Students enacted a play stressing people to avoid smoking which gets to be the main reason for Cancer.
