Mahinda thanked expatriates for patriotism displayed

Los Angeles, 05 January, (Asiantribune.com):

President_1.jpgSri Lankans from Southern California were among the first well wishers who met President Mahinda Rajapaksa and congratulated him personally on his historic victory at the Presidential Election held January 26.

Consul General Mr. Ananda Wickremasinghe, Mr. Upul Dharmadasa, and Mr. Narada Ganghadara met President Rajapaksa at Temple Trees on January 28th and conveyed the good wishes of the expatriate community. Mr. Wickremasinghe also briefed the President on activities on behalf of the motherland in Southern California, which is home to an estimated 20,000 Sri Lankans.

President Rajapaksa said he was very appreciative of the patriotism displayed by expatriates in the US and said he looked forward to seeing their continued participation in fostering economic development and peace in Sri Lanka.
