Nalini’s premature release, Sonia should take a stand: Dr. Swamy

Janata Party President Dr.Subramanian Swamy said UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi should take a stand on the request of Nalini, a life convict in the Rajiv Gandhi Assassination case, for premature release from prison. “She (Gandhi) should realise that Nalini has committed a huge crime.”
“If Sonia Gandhi fails to take a stand on this issue, it would mean that she has something to hide,” added Dr. Swamy, who has moved the Madras High Court opposing the setting up of the Vellore Prison Advisory Board to consider Nalini’s plea.
Dr. Swamy has been vehemently opposing the release of Nalini as she had committed a crime against the nation and her involvement in the assassination of the former Prime Minister had been clearly spelt out in the 400-page judgment given by the court.
He pointed out that Nalini was awarded death sentence by the court and it was the then Governor who had suspended that punishment and allowed her to undergo life term.
Mr. Swamy also opposed Nalani’s plea seeking the court’s permission to argue in person on his petition, saying she being a convict she should not be allowed to do so.
Chief Minister M Karunanidhi had yesterday said the state government cannot take any unilateral decision on Nalini’s request as it had to be discussed at the national level.
The Prison Advisory Board had met Nalini recently and discussed her plea. Besides Nalini, imprisoned for the last 19 years, the Board has heard the pleas of two other convicts in the case, Jayakumar and Robert Payas, seeking their premature release.
Referring to the “Mumbai for Marathis” stand of Shiv Sena and MNS, he described it as ‘ridiculous’ and said even Maharashtrians would not support this kind of ‘fanatic views’. “I had been an MP from Mumbai for two terms. Maharastrians voted for me... this shows they will not support any kind of fanaticism,” he said.

When you value these convicts
When you value these convicts with Rajiv Ghandhi...they are miles apart. He has been a world class leader. If terrorists can kill such important leaders and get the pardon later....what a joke.... there will be a long queue to assassinate the current leaders knowing that they will get pardoned in future....
I think they should regret for their involvement in this killing and publicly declare it and accept the responsibility and serve at least another 5 years before get the release.
She must have done it for money.... She should now realise that money can not release her.... Who is behind this release issue... the government of India should investigate it.... It could be LieTTe Diaspora who is spending millions for her release and bribing the officials....
For us Money can not buy Rajiv Gandhi’s life back... If he was there, India would have gone years ahead by now.....The missed opportunities for this great country is a serious damage.... More stronger India and more rich India would create the SAARC counties more proud in front of the EU and US. The history should repeat and India... the Maha Bharath should come to the forefront of the world Economically and Spiritually....
