Historical DBS Second Provincial Chapter

The second historical Provincial Chapter of the Sri Lanka Don Bosco Salesian Vice Province takes place from 7th to 12th February at their Sri Lankan headquarters at Dungalpitiya, Negombo.

Sri Lanka Don Bosco Salesians is part of the worldwide Don Bosco Salesian Catholic International spread over 130 countries based in Rome and in Sri Lanka their main thrust of activities is the youth formation and training. Worldwide Don Bosco Salesians are in direct contact with more than 15 million youth.

After more than 50 years since Don Bosco Salesian’s Society was set up in Sri Lanka it was elevated to a ' Vice Province ' and Rev Fr. Anthony H. Pinto was installed as the first Provincial Director of the Sri Lanka Vice Province on September 8, 2004.

The first Provincial Chapter was held in February 2006 as a prelude to the General Chapter held in 2007 in Rome . The present General Chapter mainly reviews the theme of the General Chapter held from February to April 2008 in Rome by way of assessing the extent of implementation of the decisions of the General Chapter. For the first time Sri Lanka was represented at the General Chapter of 2008.

The progress of various sectors and all other activities would be assessed, take stock of the development made, action plan to complete the development work envisaged and the future in general at this Provincial Chapter. All the Directors of the various institutions of Sri Lanka Don Bosco Salesians spread all over Sri Lanka.

Rev Fr Pinto leads General Chapter, while Rev Fr Joseph Pulikal acts as the moderator.
