More evince interest to join the parliamentary electoral race

Namal Rajapakse.jpgSri Lanka is already in the grip of election fever, the Election Commission is yet to notify the parliamentary elections. And many have decided to come forward to contest in the forthcoming General elections. Maybe the post war peace time is the reason.

The latest information reaching Asian Tribune is this time R. Sampanthan, the parliamentary Group Leader of the Tamil National Alliance has decided not to be a candidate in the Trincomalee electoral district.

Asian Tribune learnt that he will be putting himself in the national list of the TNA.
In the last General Elections TNA won 20 seats and they got two bonus seats in the national list.

Further it is learnt that the Namal Rajapaksa, the eldest son of President Mahinda Rajapaksa is expected to contest at Hambantota electoral districts in the coming parliamentary general elections.

Tilanka Sumathipala, a former Sri Lankan Cricket Board President and the former Anuradapura West UNP Organizer and the present UPFA Western Provincial Council Member has already started his election campaign in the UPFA ticket.

Also another Western Province UPFA Councillor Duminda Silva too has started his campaign works.

Minister Milinda Morogoda will be contesting in the UPFA ticket. He is also the Leader of the Sri Lanka National Congress. He is expected to contest in the Colombo Central district.

It is further learnt that Srisena Coorey, a former UNP stalwart and the patron of the Sri Lanka National Congress might also contest in the Colombo Central on UPFA ticket in case he is given a seat.

Also it is learnt that Vithura Wickremanayake, son of Prime Minister Ratnasri Wickremanayake too is contesting this time in the UPFA ticket at Kalutura.
