Bomb attack kills 19 in Northwest Pakistan
A car bomb killed 19 people including 11 Khasadars (paramilitary personnel) and injured others in Jamrud area of Khyber Agency in Northwest Pakistan.
The patrolling party of paramilitary forces was struck by the bomber at Wazir Dhand area on the main Peshawar-Torkhum Road in Khyber Agency.
The assistant political agent Jamrud, Rehan Khattak confirmed that eleven Khasadar, one security forces official Captain Salim and seven civilians including three tribal elders were among the casualties.
The dead also included Zarmat Khan, Line Officer of Jamrud sub-division.
He said that the eleven injured including khasadar personnel were admitted to Hayatabad Medical Complex and Jamrud Civil hospital.
According to the eyewitnesses a man ran towards the khasadar vehicle and a huge blast occurred.
The vehicle with some fifteen khasadar personnel on board was on routine patrol of the area.
The injured included a local journalist Amjad Khan whose condition was stated to be stable.
It was not confirmed if it was suicide attack or the vehicle struck some planted explosive.
