Controversial Film Director Seeman launch a political party on Prabhakaran’s Death Anniversary

Sathyalaya Ramakrishnan from Chennai
Chennai, 14 February, (Asiantribune.com):

Tamil activist and staunch supporter of LTTE, film director and actor Seeman declared on Friday that his movement Naam Thamizhar Iyakkam would become a political party, which will be launched in Madurai on May 18.

Semman, an open supporter of banned militant organization, LTTE, and had been arrested for allegedly making inflammatory speeches in support of the outfit has timed the date of the launch to coincide with LTTE chief Prabakararan's, first death anniversary.

Further, the Naam Thamizhar party's flag, which he showed to reporters at Salem, bears a resemblance to the LTTE's flag, with the Tiger figuring prominently on it.

Seeman justified the resemblance saying, "This is our grandfathers' flag. Was not the tiger the symbol of our ancestral kings?" He said he would keep the policies, programmes and specific strategies of Naam Thamizhar Party under wraps for now and would reveal it at an appropriate time.

Broadly indicating the party's ideology, Seeman said he felt the need to strengthen unity among Tamils across the world.
