Share Power with Tamils as promised : Karunanidhi to Rajapaksa
Tamil Nadu Cheif Minister M Karunanidhi on Saturday called upon the Sri Lankan president Mahinda Rajapaksa to share power with Sri Lankan Tamils as he promised during his Presidential Election campaign held in Sri Lanka last month.
In his unique style of both questioning and answering, Mr Karunanidhi said that if Rajapaksa failed or delayed in fulfilling his promises , the ruling DMK won't be a mute spectator.
Karunanidhi also cautioned Rajapaksa and said that his government will take up Sri Lankan Tamils issue to the union government and take appropriate action for the uplift of Sri Lankan tamils.
Regarding the former Sri Lankan army Chief, General Fonseka's arrest Karunanidhi hopes that President Rajapakse will never forget the history of Alexander who treated Indian King Purushothaman (Porus) ,the one who lost in the battle and was taken as captive by him, with honour.

Please look after 7 million
Please look after 7 million Daliths in Tamilnadu. GoSL will look after 2.5 million Tamils in Sri Lanka.
Good point by Karunanidhi.
Good point by Karunanidhi. With a STRONG power-sharing arrangement at the Centre, the level of devolution can be limited. I personally would put greater emphasis on a STRONG power-sharing arrangement at the Centre, though it is a bit too late to not devolve some powers to the provinces.
As for the point by Yodhagama in this thread, Karunanidhi is only asking Prez Rajapakse to keep his promise, a promise THAT PREZ RAJAPAKSE HIMSELF MADE DURING THE ELECTION CAMPAIGN.
And I don't think that Prez Rajapakse would have made this promise during an election campaign if he didn't feel that it was acceptable. (And there are laws in India for the benefit of Dalits all over India that may even border on reverse discrimination.)
"Power sharing with Tamils"?
"Power sharing with Tamils"? Who power shares with a race? India does not "power share with Tamils" why should Sri Lanka? Its not the fault of the Sinhalese that Tamils only make up 10% of the population.
Sorry we're not returning to the British apartheid to solve you power greedy egos and sense of privilege and favouritism where a Tamil is buttressed ahead of non-Tamil for simply being Tamil rather than for ability. Unfortunately this concept of (British given) Tamil "superiorty" over non-Tamils went into many Tamils heads and gave us a war.
It was Prez Rajapakse himself
It was Prez Rajapakse himself who suggested this option (POWER-SHARING WITH TAMILS AND MUSLIMS), instead of Federalism, or any other type of similar structure. India already has a Federal structure in place, and since India's Independence, numerous new Federal states have been created in India.
I think we need to be more informed on issues before trying to wax eloquent, or ineloquent.
Again, Karunanidhi is merely exhorting Prez Rajapakse to keep the promise HE HIMSELF MADE during the election campaign.
Sri Lanka politicians have
Sri Lanka politicians have always shared power with able minorities here.
Race or religion based politics in a tiny island like Sri Lanka will be the worst thing possible if Lanka is to work toward a peaceful & prosperous country. Able people of all races should be able to embrace any political party & any religion of their choice. The present day Lankans are quite a mixed lot anyway, there are no 'pure breds', are there, or do some people want to go into Nazi type pure bred Aryan 'blue eyed & blonde' superiority ?
Besides, Mr Karunanaidi has enough problems on his plate, Dalit problems & economic problems to solve in Tamil Nadu, without trying to 'govern' Lanka. There may be some laws in place in Tamil Nadu (Indian Law, not Tamil Nadu law), to ensure fair play to Tamil Dalits, but are these laws followed ? They are not, as far as we know.

Is this a threat or a joke?
