Three District Judges sworn in as Additional Judges
Three District Judges were sworn in as Additional Judges of the Madras High Court on Wednesday.
With the swearing in of T. Mathivanan, A. Arumugha Swamy and K.B.K. Vasuki, from subordinate courts, the percentage of representation from judiciary to be elevated to higher judiciary that was said to be low and much grieved is taken care of this time.
Now the strength of the High Court judges has gone up to 55. The sanctioned strength is 60. The strength of women judges increased to seven with a woman judge sworn in.

The three learned judges come from varied experiences from the judicdiary-- T. Mathivanan, Member-Secretary, Tamil Nadu State Legal Services Authority; A. Arumugha Swamy, Registrar-General of the High Court, and K.B.K. Vasuki, Registrar (Vigilance), High Court, Chennai, are the new appointees.
Vasuki is a niece of K.B.Sundarambal, Carnatic musician.
Chief Justice H.L. Gokhale administered the oath of office. Judges and family members of the new appointees were among those who participated in the function. Earlier, S. Vimala, Registrar-General of the Madras High Court, read out the Presidential warrant of appointment.
Advocate-General P.S. Raman welcomed the newly appointed Judges.
