Anbazhagan is the AIADMK candidate for Pennagaram by Election: Jayalalithaa announces

All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) on Wednestday announced Mr R Anbazhagan, Secretary of the party of Dharmapuri District, as its candidate in the Pennagaram Assembly Constituency for the by election which will be held on March 27.

Coinciding with her 62nd birthday on Wednesday, Party supremo Ms J Jayalalithaa said in a statement, the high level selection committee of the party decided to field Anbazhagan as its candidate in the by election.

The ruling DMK has played its cards safe by announcing P N P Inbasekaran, son of DMK MLA P N Periannan, due to whose death the byelection was needed,as its canditate in it

The Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) has also announced Mr M Tamilkumaran, son of the party's President G K Mani, as its Candidate.

Actor turned politician ,Vijayakath's DMDK has announced K.G Kaverivarman as its candidate in the election.

The Election Commission of India announced last week, that the by-election in the Pennagaram Assembly constituency will be held on March 27. The model code of conduct came into force with immediate effect, and is applicable to the entire Dharmapuri district.

Counting of votes will be held on March 30. The poll notification will be issued on March 3.

The last date for filing nominations is March 10 and the papers will be scrutinised the next day.The last date of withdrawal of candidature is March 13 and the poll process will end on April 2.The final publication of the photo electoral roll, after the summary revision with January 1, 2010 as the cut-off date, was published on February 18.

The by poll was originally scheduled for January 20.It was later rescinded following protests from the Opposition parties as the date clashed with the Pongal celebrations.
