AmCham Announces Upcoming Ambassador’s Ball
During a press conference held at the residence of U.S. Ambassador Patricia A. Butenis, the American Chamber of Commerce Sri Lanka (AmCham) announced that this year’s Ambassador’s Ball will be held on Saturday, March 27, at the Hilton Colombo.
AmCham President Moji Akingbade presented Ambassador Patricia A. Butenis, U.S. Ambassador to Sri Lanka and the Maldives, with the first ticket to the event.
This year’s theme will be “Hollywood Nights” with all the “expectant glamour of the Red Carpet,” raved Akingbade. Ambassador Butenis expressed her appreciation and noted how much she is looking forward to this, her first Ambassador’s Ball in Sri Lanka.
In his remarks, AmCham Executive Director Chullante Jayasuriya spoke of the strength of Sri Lankan and U.S. commercial interests, and highlighted a number of the organizations recent and upcoming events, including a Panel Discussion on increasing tourism in the country that took place on February 24, an American-style Networking Happy Hour that will take place on March 4, and monthly luncheons with guest speakers such as Treasury Secretary Dr. P.B. Jayasundera and UN Resident Representative Neil Buhne.
Ambassador Butenis noted that through “increased trade and investment, the U.S. has a positive role to play in Sri Lanka’s economic revitalization, and AmCham’s role is front-and-center is that effort.”
Established in 1992, AmCham represents over 270 leading Sri Lankan and American companies employing tens of thousands of Sri Lankans in nearly every major aspect of the country’s economy.
AmCham hosts a wide array of events and provides a range of services to its members, including a direct link with the U.S. Embassy.
