Tele-Cinema Village Opens End of this Month
Tele-cinema village at Ranminithenne in Thissamaharamaya will be opened for tele and cinema artistes on March 30, revealed Mass Media Minister Lakshman Yapa Abeywardana.
Media Minister Abeywardana addressing the media personal at the Media Ministry premises on Wednesday (March 03) said that the construction work of the Tele-cinema village which is a concept of President Mahinda Rajapaksa, is nearing completion.
He also said that Rs. 450 million has already been spent for the project and the tele-cinema village is constructed in an area feet 235 acres in Hambantota.
This Tele and Cinema Village is fully equipped with all rural, urban, or any other environments and sceneries which are required by the artistes for their film shooting locations. All the requirements proposed by the artistes who visited the village were included in the project and whatever the backgrounds or locations required by the directors have been made available in the village.
The project of the Tele and Cinema Village is handled by the Mass Media and Information Ministry and the financial assistance which is needed for the construction work is received through tax on foreign tele and cinema creations which are broadcasted by local TV stations.
Minister Abeywardana also added that artistes appreciated the President Mahinda Rajapaksa for initiating such an important and time need task , by filling a long felt need of the tele and cinema industries.
