Kuwaiti Emperor seeks Nepal Army personnel for personal safety
Kathmandu, 05 March, (Asiantribune.com): Kuwaiti Emperor has sought Nepal Army (NA) personnel for his personal safety.
Officials at Nepal Army Headquarters said army is set to positively respond to the demand of the emperor of oil-rich nation. Kuwait is considered fifth largest reserve of petroleum products.
Kuwaiti Emperor Sheikh Sabah IV Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al- Sabah made a request of 200 Nepal Army personnel for his personal safety and security of the palace.
A request letter to this effect was sent by Nepali Embassy in Kuwait to Nepal Army Headquarters.
As per the criterion set by the Kuwaiti government, army personnel to be deputed must have served at least 12 to 15 years with the army and must not have crossed the age limit of 35 years.
Army spokesperson Ramindra Chhetri said they have been making feasibility study of the proposal.
Altogether 55 Nepali Army personnel were sent upon request for the security of the palace of United Arab Emirates (UAE) King Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed bins Sultan Al Nahyan some four years ago.
Nepali Army personnel, also known as Gurkha, are taken as the most trusted security guards in the world. Emperors of Brunei have long been using retired Gurkha soldiers for the security of their palace and for their personal safety.
