Six Tamil separatists, allegedly extorting money for LTTE cause, arrested in Germany

Chennai, 06 March (Asiantribune.com):
Six leading Tamil separatists, alleged to have links with LTTE, have been arrested by German police, the federal prosecution agency said on Friday.
The six suspected of belonging to an organization were extorting money from ethnic Tamils living in Germany to fund Sri Lanka's rebel Liberation Tiger of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) group.
Of the six detained, three are Sri Lankan nationals and other three German nationals of Tamil origin. Thirtyfour-year-old V S Vijikanendra is suspected to be the leader of the German-based Tamil Coordination Committee (TCC), federal prosecutors said. The other men are said to be members of the organization, which represents the LTTE in Germany.
Police searched seven premises and also the Tamil Cordination Committee’s office at Oberhausen in North Rhine-Westphalis
It may be noted the European Union (EU) had listed the LTTE as a terrorist organisation in 2006.
