Letter to Editor: Online Petition to UNSG is a good move—a reader
Asian Tribune’s Online Petition to UN Secretary General Mr. Ban Ki Moon has been signed by many, with comments too. One letter we received deserves to be brought to the notice of our general readers. While he appreciates the open petition is a good move, he seems to feel the signatures should have flooded more, as there is no dearth of Lankan patriots. And he goes ahead to suggests to display prominently. Here’s his letter:
Dear Mr Rajasingham,
I sincerely appreciate your effort in helping our motherland Sri Lanka from western invaders. The petition to UN Secretary General is a good move against the foreign interference.
However, I feel the petition is not being seen by many readers. The opinion poll for the April (presidential) elections was being voted by majority of the readers it seems . Whereas the numbers for this petition (general elections) is still small.
There should be some reason for this. Either the visibility of the notification is poor or some other reason. Because people who voted for UPFA victory in the poll definitely are patriotic Sri Lankans, who will not hesitate to sign on the petition.
It is true that the notification is displayed in the front page. My main point it could be more visible to readers.
Thanks and Regards
N. Amarasena
