Million Dollar Question And General

By. Dr. T.Jayasinghe

Millions in local and foreign currency are surfacing from bank vaults and bank accounts of those near and dear to General Fonseka and the country is yet to hear of an explanation as to how they came to own this much of money.

Former JVP Member of Parliament Anura Kumara Dissanayaka says that they are contributions from friends and supporters to be made use of for the election campaign. No one know why he is washing other people's dirty clothes unless he himself has benifitted. At the same time he has fallen into a mess by announcing that he is aware of the names of persons who donated this money.

If we are to take his word, it gives rise to a never ending chain of questions. Considering the sequence of the brand new crispy notes it is quite obvious that the donation is possibly from a foreign party and the money had been drawn from a bank in a foreign country. A local bank would not have foreign currency notes in that sequence. Further this amount of money cannot come through normal banking channels. Then it has to be through a DPL bag smuggled into the country by a diplomatic mission or by a diplomat coming into the country.

Going by the statement made by the said JVP leader it is now obvious that the amount of money found in the vaults is the remaining balance after spending for the election. Then the big question is, if the balance is large the total amount received has to be hundred times more. Since it is illegal for a Sri Lankan to receive this amount of foreign currency direct both the donor and the recipient had committed an offence.

Again this goes on to prove that there had been many foreign hands working to destabilize Sri Lanka. Lavish spending at the election and the reservation of one whole floor of a five star hotel paying millions is a clear sign that millions had been made available. If this part of the donation that General got what about the share that JVP and UNP got.

As usual greedy for money General did not spend the whole amount. Then the other question as to why he trusted the mother of his son in law more than his wife for safe keeping the millions.General being what he is the reason is obvious.

Now there is clear proof that foreign parties are funding local individuals and groups to destabilize the country. There are a number of NGOs operating in Sri Lanka where the salaries of some directors are in millions a month. These NGOs who act as agents virtually buy over prominent respectable persons and get them to make statements that go against the government. The recent change of heart of a number of persons on the arrest of General Fonseka is a case in point. This foreign money either neutralizes people or converts them. These NGOs have the famous CIA document where the weaknesses of most prominent persons are given in detail.

The question of foreign parties funding NGOs, individuals etc come up every now and then and governments promise to take stern action but it never happened. But now it has been proved beyond doubt with concrete evidence that foreign money is playing a big role in destabilizing governments. This happens all over the world and it will happen in future even in Sri Lanka. As far as I can see only Mr. Wimal Weerawansa has seen this danger in the correct perspective. If the future governments are to remain stable proper action will have to be taken. Two third majority is not a problem when money begins to talk. The money in the vaults is only the tip of the iceberg.

Having failed at the Presidential election these foreign agents are now spending millions freely to buy over prominent personalities abroad. Most unsuspecting people have come out to attack Sri Lanka on flimsy grounds. Foreign media continues to talk of camps in North even now. Sara Sider of CNN had the audacity to question President Rajapaksa last week about barbed wire around the camps.

She has forgotten the barbed wire fences in GITMO and those suffering in Haiti, the virtual colony of USA just 90 minutes away. These foreign agents are spending millions to organize protest campaigns in Western countries like, UK, France, Italy, Switzerland etc. In the recent past we have seen a number of them and even satellite technology has been used to get the live participation of those in Sri Lanka and USA. It is a million dollar question as to who gives money to fund these expensive activities. It is none other than LTTE Diaspora and foreign agents working against Sri Lanka.
