200 Days to go for CWG: Delhi’s India Gate venue for festivities
March 7, 2010 marked the “200 days to go” milestone for the XIX Commonwealth Games 2010 Delhi. This milestone is an important one, leading up to the Games in October 2010.
Keeping in mind the significance of this milestone and the significance of reaching out to and involving common public in the run-up to the Games, the OC CWG Delhi 2010 organised an event on Sunday at the India Gate lawns to involve the people of Delhi and generate enthusiasm and awareness for the Games.
This event was a fun-filled day for entire families, wherein they could enjoy the event featuring art, culture, food, festivities and the spirit of the XIX Commonwealth Games 2010 Delhi.
This event involved painters of Delhi painting on a 200 ft canvas (since the event celebrates 200 days to go) with the theme “XIX Commonwealth Games 2010 Delhi – Game for Green”.
Nearly 50 to 100 top artists of Delhi along with other professional artists were invited to come and paint. Well known painter Satish Gujral inaugurated the event with the first brush stroke on the canvas. There was also a kite flying event to mark the occasion.
