Lankan beauty, Ceylon tea will lure tourists from Nordic-Baltic region: Stockholm Mission

Stocholm, 24 March (Asisntribune.com):

/sites/asiantribune.com/files/230310_cricket_pic_005.jpg“Sri Lanka is a small miracle which is full of diversities extending from sublime beaches around the country to ancient civilizations with variety of other tourist attractions such as wildlife and different eco systems,” said Mr. Ranjith Jayasooriya, Ambassador of Sri Lanka in Sweden, at a Tea Evening organized by Sri Lanka Embassy in association with International Women’s Club of Stockholm (IWCS), Orient Tours and Ethihad Airways on March 18, to promote Sri Lanka tourism and Ceylon tea.

The event, held at the Embassy premises, was attended by about 100 participants from these organizations. Most of the women who participated from IWCS are leading social activists in the Stockholm city.

The Ambassador, in his welcome speech, explained about the peaceful environment prevailing in the country now after the defeat of the LTTE terrorism and highlighted the tourists attractions and the facilities of the tourism industry as well as the conducive environment for trade and investment. He further made an open invitation for the gathering to select Sri Lanka as their next tourist destination when they plan their next vacation.

The Commercial Secretary of the Embassy, Mr. Sanjeewa Pattiwila made a comprehensive presentation about Tourism in Sri Lanka by giving more details about the past and present of Tourism Industry in Sri Lanka. He also made a presentation about Ceylon Tea which was highly praised by the audience as it was a new experience for them about Ceylon Tea and the tea industry.

Mr. Hans Oode, a freelance journalist and a true friend of Sri Lanka, has made a very attractive presentation sharing his pleasant memories about the places he visited in Sri Lanka. Officials of Ethihad Airways in collaboration with Orient Tours introduced their tour package to Sri Lanka for the gathering.

At the end of the presentation, a tea tasting session was arranged with the combination of the regional teas from Sri Lanka, and some Sri Lankan delicacies. This event was a part of the annual tourism promotional programme of the Mission and was well received by the participants.
