Akon concert likely in Maldives

Poorna Rodrigo
Colombo, 28 March,(Asiantribune.com):

The disputed Akon concert scheduled to be held in Colombo is now likely to be shifted to the Maldives, the Daily Mirror online reported.

The organizers have told the Daily Mirror that talks are underway to that effect.
The Sri Lankan government rejected visa to the US R&B singer saying one of his videos disrespected Buddhism.

Akon’s music video for the track “Sexy Chick” showed scantily clad women dancing around a statue of the Lord Buddha, much to the offence of the Lankan government.

Yet according to the news report last minute talks are still underway to hold the concert in Colombo as scheduled since Akon has already tendered an apology over the controversial video.

The possibility of holding the show minus Akon too is being considered, it said.

Amongst other singers billed to perform at the show are Kelly Rowland, Pit Bull and Jay Sean, it added.
