Sathyalaya Ramakrishnan Reporting from Chennai
Chennai, 28 March, (Asiantribune.com)

Nuclear-capable surface-to-surface missile Prithvi-II and ship-based Dhanush missiles were successfully flight tested, within a few minutes of each other, in salvo mode early Saturday.

While the 11-metre tall Dhanush was launched first from the Naval ship, Subhadhra at 05.30 AM, Prithvi-II was fired few minutes later from LC-III Complex at Integrated Test Range, Chandipur, and Andhra Pradesh. Advanced navigation and guidance systems were flight-tested in the launches which met all the mission objectives and were carried out by Armed Forces with text-book precision.

According to a press release from Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO), the trajectories of both the missiles were monitored by a widespread tracking network consisting of radars, telemetry and electro-optical systems spread over land and sea. The entire mission sequencing events occurred as expected.

Both the missiles are under production after successful completion of development trials and have been inducted into the Army, Air force and Navy. The missiles were flight tested almost simultaneously as part of the regular training exercise of the Armed Forces, the press release added.
