India: Maoists threat to Orissa CM Patnaik

From R. Vasudevan – Reporting from New Delhi
New Delhi, 29 March (Asiantribune.com):

Orissa Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has received a threat e-mail from 'Maoists', warning him to stop Operation Green Hunt in the state, an official said in Bhubaneswar on Sunday. Orissa is one of the Naxalite-hit states of India.

"We received the mail on Saturday. It was received at his official e-mail address," the chief minister's public relations officer Sukanta Panda said. The e-mail was sent from plga@orissa.gov.

The sender also threatened to blow up vital installations in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, and claimed responsibility for the snag in the official website earlier this month. This is the third vicious e-mail received by Patnaik this year. A similar mail was received on the eve of Republic Day. He had also received a vicious mail from the official e-mail account of newly-formed Central University of Orissa at Koraput in February.
