Wee hours tragedy: Old lady killed and thrown in to a well in "Ahobila Mutt - Accused beaten to death

Chennai, 26 July, (Asiantribune.com):

In continuation of the day light murders in Chennai City for the past few months, an old lady on Sunday allegedly attacked and killed by a man at the Ahobila Mutt in Selaiyur, Tambaram, located near Chennai.

A 64 year old Kanagavalli, a Mutt inmate, was cleaning the premises in the wee hours, when she noticed a man hiding in a room nearby.

She then raised an alarm after which the man attacked her with a knife and threw her into a nearby well. He then tried to flee, they said.

The man has been identified as Satyaraj from Madurantakam of Kancheepuram district.

Beaten to Death

Locals, who rushed to the spot, surrounded Satyaraj and beat him up. He then later succumbed to his injuries at a hospital, Tambaram Police said, adding the woman died at the mutt itself.

Police said the man had come to steal money and ornaments from the mutt. Police has registered a case.
