CBFC senior official caught red-handed while bribing to issue Censor Certificate

Regional Officer in Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), which certifies new films, and IFS officer, Mr. Rajasekar , was caught red-handed by the Central Bureau of Investigation(CBI), while he collected bribe for issuing film certification.

The CBI officials on Tuesday evening arrested Rajasekar while he was accepting bribe amount of Rs 10, 000 from a film producer in his office at Shastri Bhavan, Chennai.

According to official sources, Rajasekar was arrested by the investigating agency from the Shastri Bhavan, housing central government offices including that of CBI.

However, officials did not divulge further details. The arrested person had taken charge recently in CBFC, he is also holding the post of chief in Animal Welfare Board, sources said adding he along-with other censor board members, was present for the preview of a Tamil movie before being arrested by the CBI sleuths.

CBI also had a raid in his house in Kottivakkam simultaneously.

CBI officials have not disclosed about the documents, materials and cash recovered from Mr.Rajasekar so far.

"After the thorough investigation, we will produce the IFS officer before special CBI court in Chennai", a senior CBI official told Asian Tribune.

CBI sleuths refused to point out the producer who gave the bribe neither to Mr. Rajasekar nor the name of the film for which he collected it.
