Tamil Film Star Murali Died: Sudden Collapse following a heart attack

Tamil film actor and All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) party head quarters speaker Murali died in Chennai this (Wednesday) morning following a heart attack, his family sources said.

The 46-years old young and energetic Murali, who had acted in over 100 films in a shot span of time, complained of chest pain this morning and was rushed to a private hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.

He is survived by his wife and two sons, including Atharva, who made his film debut recently in the film “Baana Kathadi“.

Murali, son of famous Kannada film director Siddalingaia, made his debut in Tamil film in 1984 playing the lead role in “Poovilangu”, directed by Ameerjhan.

Murali was much-sought after actor in the 90s when he gave a string of hit movies.

His notable films include ‘Idhayam’, ‘Pudu Vasantham’, ‘Porkalam’ and ‘Sundara Travels’

His latest film ‘Kavasam’ is slated for release this week, his family said.

Murali had campaigned for the AIADMK in the 2006 assembly elections.

Murali started his acting career in 1984 with the film ‘Poovilangu’ though he made his debut in Kannada. He acted along side actors like Thespian Sivaji Ganesan, Vijayakanth, Sathyaraj, Prabhu, Sarath Kumar, Mammootty, Prabhu Deva, and Parthiban.

Murali was noticed in the super hit movie ’Puthu Vasantham’ and earned laurels for his performance in ‘Idhayam’ with which he got immense popularity. Other movies that got him appreciation were ‘Thanga Manusukkaran’, ‘Alli Thanda Vanam’, ‘En Asai Machan’, ‘Poomani’, ‘Porkaalam’, ‘Sundara Travels’, etc.

Murali won the Tamil Nadu best actor award in 2001 for his performance in ‘Kadal Pookal’.

His last film was ‘Baana Kaathadi’, which is the maiden venture of his son Atharva. Murali is survived by his wife Shoba, sons Atharva and Vijay, and daughter Kavya.

Murali was admitted in Rama Chandra Hospital couple of days back due to a a massive heart attack, but unfortunately Murali died today morning at 7.30 am.

Former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and AIADMK supremo J Jayalalithaa condoled the sudden death of Murali.

"Muralis untimely end is a great loss to me and the party", Ms Jayalalithaa said in a statemenet.
