Ambassador to China Ranjith Uyangoda presented credentials to Chinese President

Newly appointed Ambassador to China Ranjith Uyangoda presented credentials to Chinese President Hu Jintao on 16th August 2011 at the Great Hall of the People, Beijing, People's Republic of China.

Following the presentation of credentials, the Chinese President held a discussion with the Ambassador.

Ambassador Ranjit Uyangoda who is from the 1985 batch of the Foreign Diplomatic Service, prior to taking up diplomatic position was the additional Secretary to the Ministry of External Affairs was in charge of Overseas Administration Service, as well as the UN Multi-lateral Affairs, Economic Affairs, Public Communication, South Asia.

Ambassador Ranjit Uyangoda, who hails from Kandy, a graduated from the Peradeniya University and in 1987 he had his first posting as the Third Secretary to Sri Lanka’s High Commission in Malaysia.

In 1998 t0 2003 he was the UN Deputy Permanent Representative. The latest ambassadorial position he held was – Ambassador to Japan from 2005 to 2009.

He will be succeeds Ambassador Karunatilaka Amunugama who is presently Secretary to the Ministry of External Affairs.
