Be warned Australian Greens, Tigers never change their stripes

The Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) has killed more Tamil political leaders than Sinhala and Muslim political leaders. They have done so because the Tamil political leaders wanted a peaceful resolution to the ethnic issue in Sri Lanka, and the LTTE led by Prabakaran wanted a separate State for Tamils by force.

Many within the Tamil Diaspora supported the LTTE either by choice or because they were threatened by the LTTE elements within and outside Australia. The same activists within the Diaspora are now supporting the establishment of a separate Tamil State in Sri Lanka. They have now appeared in new masks as front organizations leading the accusations against Sri Lanka about alleged war crimes. These very same activists in Australia are now being supported by the Australian Greens.

Yesterday’s attempt by the LTTE to kill EPDP Leader Douglas Devananda using a woman suicide cadre stands to prove that Tigers never change their stripes, leader of the Tamil United Liberation Front, V. Anandasangaree said. Eelam People’s Democratic Party leader Devananda survived the attack which killed his Coordinating Secretary who was at his Narahenpita office when the woman clad in suicide kit detonated it inside the structure. Condemning the incident, TULF leader V Anandasangaree said that it was typical of the LTTE to kill and dominate, and they do this on purpose to live by the gun to ensure that Tamil people donot raise their heads against them."They do not know an y other way and apply this principle to rule every one,” he explained. – News item dated November 29th, 2007

Australian Greens probably would not know who Mr VAnandasangaree is, and who Mr Douglas Devananda is. They would not know, because they would not have been told by their new found friends that they are both Tamil political leaders who have survived the onslaught of the LTTE killing machine and are fortunately still amongst us.

Not so fortunate are several other Tamil politicians who tried to work out a political solution peacefully in Sri Lanka, but who were murdered by the LTTE for that very reason. Amongst them are a Foreign Minister of Sri Lanka, Mr Lakshman Kadiragarmar, a Leader of the Opposition in the Sri Lankan Parliament, Mr A Amirthalingam, member of Parliament Dr Neelan Tiruchelvam.

One of the first Tamil political leaders to be murdered by the LTTE, and by the Leader of the LTTE Prabakaran himself with his own hands, was the Mayor of Jaffna, Mr Alfred Duraiappah. That happened in 1975

Since then, scores of other Tamil political leaders have been murdered by the LTTE because they attempted to find a solution to the ethnic issue in Sri Lanka, peacefully and in co-operation with other communities in Sri Lanka. The list is long, and if the Australian Greens wishes to have the list, it can be supplied.

For the information of the Australian Greens, the list also includes many Sinhala political leaders, including a Head of State, President Ranasinghe Premadasa, a former Indian Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi , Hundreds of Buddhist priests, Muslims praying in Mosques, members of the civil society who promoted a peaceful resolution to this conflict, hundreds of thousands of innocent civilians, and thousands of Sri Lankan Armed Forces personnel who died trying to safeguard the territorial integrity of the country, and safeguard over 100,000 people who died during 30 years of confrontation with the LTTE.

Another Head of State, President Chandrika Kumaratunga was nearly killed by a LTTE suicide bomber. She lost sight in one eye as a result.

The atrocities committed by the LTTE for nearly 30 years would fill several volumes and if the Australian Greens require these dossiers, they could be supplied.

The Greens have hitched their wagon to the Tamil cause, little realizing that the cause espoused by the Diaspora Tamils is diametrically opposed to the cause relevant to and promoted by Tamils living in Sri Lanka. Tamils in Sri Lanka are after a peaceful resolution that is acceptable to all communities. They do not want a separate state, and they do not want another LTTE or the atrocities committed by them.

These naïve politicians from the Australian Greens might be of the view that the LTTE died in May 2009 when the Sri Lankan Armed Forces defeated them in open war. They might be day dreaming that the Tamil Diaspora representatives they are dealing with, dining with, and have been fooled by, have nothing to do with the LTTE that was responsible for the killing of so many Tamil political leaders, let alone Sinhala and Muslim leaders.

If one were to look at a plethora of Tamil Diaspora events that have been going on in various parts of Australia in preparation for the several protest campaigns to be staged against Sri Lanka and its political leadership at the CHOGM summit in Perth, It is clear that neither the LTTE nor its leader Prabakaran is dead.

Although killed in battle in May 2009, Prabakaran is depicted as a larger than life personality at these events. In the cut outs displayed, he is no longer presented in his military fatigues. He is now dressed in white, like a Saint, and he looks benevolently at the audience, while speaker after speaker extols the audience to “get angry” about the way Tamils are treated in Sri Lanka and to do “something” about it.

No one advocates a peaceful, non violent approach to doing “something”, but carefully avoids mentioning adopting any violent means either. However the depiction of Prabakaran as a larger than life figure at these gatherings is an indication that the call is for supporting terrorism and violence practiced by him, rather than pursuing a non violent path as Prabakaran knew only violence. There is never a mention of living in harmony with the Sinhalese or Muslims, and working out a solution that is acceptable to all communities.

Speakers advocate only one solution, a separate State. They state openly that reconciliation with the Sinhalese is not possible, and it is not an option as long as the Tamil people are “oppressed”.

The philosophical and physical association with the LTTE is abundantly clear. Collecting funds to support the “just cause” of the Tamils goes on as it did to collect funds to arm the LTTE.

Those who supported the LTTE, spearheaded the fund raising drives, where contributions had to be made voluntarily or otherwise, are still the leading voices behind the drive to seek a separate State, “now or in ten years time, or even longer”.

The Tamil Diaspora political organizations like the Global Tamil Forum (GTF) and the Transnational Government of Tamil Eelam (TGTE), are the oraganisations active in Australia and leading the campaign for a separate State for Tamils.

Their well stocked financial armory has managed to fund several pressure groups, with the latest recruit being the Australian branch of the International Commission of Jurists (ICJ) headed by former NSW Judge John Dowd. These front organizations of the LTTE have already got prized scalps in their bag.

The Darusman panel, Channel4, Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, the Australian Greens and even the Canadian Prime Minister Steven Harper speaks on their behalf now and uses material supplied by them without any regard to the veracity of what has been supplied to them.

The methods employed by these front organizations to collect funds vary from voluntary donations to coerced contributions, and illegal methods like extortion and credit card scams.

The LTTE front organizations are behind all the credit card skimming crimes in Australia which has cost about 6000 West Australians more than $6.5M from EFTPOS machines. There is evidence of more when 3 Tamil community leaders in Melbourne pleading guilty to sending over $1m to the LTTE along with components to make bombs. Tamil asylum seekers arriving in boats has increased, and everyone is well aware of the lucrative people smuggling enterprise. These front organizations are clearly involved in this despicable business as well.

The LTTE front organizations have managed to get the Australian Federal Police involved in investigating a war crimes allegation against Sri Lanka based on an eye witness account of one person, Meena Krishnamoorthy. They have done this through the ICJ. The Diaspora funds have also managed to get prime time ABC television news channel to interview this ICJ star witness.

According to military intelligence information from Sri Lanka reported elsewhere, the so-called eye witness’s full name is Krishnamoorthy Navarangi Meena and Eelanadee is the code name given her by the LTTE terror outfit. She was born on October 30, 1982 at Velvettithurai, the hometown of Prabhakaran. She had received her education in Australia and is an Australian citizen.

She arrived in Sri Lanka in 2004 to conduct a research study. During her visit, she had met LTTE’s International Propaganda, Procurement and Fundraising Unit Head Castro and joined the outfit and had undergone military training for six months in an LTTE base in Muthaiyankaddu. She was attached to the LTTE’s female infantry regiment Malithi and attached to the LTTE’s International Division functioning under Castro as she was fluent in English.

She married LTTE cadre Kuberan (Irasarathnam Thayakaran) in 2007. The LTTE had sent her to South Africa to follow a course on law and again to Malaysia for some LTTE work. She was pregnant in 2008 and registered for the delivery in Ponnambalam Hospital in Wanni used only for providing treatment for LTTE cadres. She had given birth to a still-born.

ABC TV has insinuated that this unfortunate eventuality was an outcome of shelling in the area. At that time there were no military operations in the area, a fact well-known to UN agencies, INGOs and others working in the area.

Investigative journalism is a thing of the past even for the once respected ABC. They have consistently demonstrated their lack of journalistic ethics by producing one sided programs.

When the humanitarian operations by Sri Lankan forces concluded, Meena Krishnamoorthy had concealed her LTTE identity and moved to an IDP Centre in Vavuniya and later had left to Australia. Her husband Kuberan, a wanted senior LTTE cadre, had surrendered to the Sri Lanka Armed Forces on May 16, 2009 but had managed to escape from a rehabilitation centre. He is at large and could well be in Australia.

Analysts who have thoroughly examined her statement in the documentary ask why she does not name the hospitals or at least the area which she witnessed attacks by the Government forces. She also fails to mention where she saw the massacre of civilians by Sri Lankan forces. She says that she worked in an orphanage but the place or name of the orphanage is not given.

Although she claims her husband was a civil administrator, he was an identified LTTE combatant who participated in the LTTE peace talks facades.

Australian Greens have shown they are incapable, or unwilling to separate fact from fiction. They have made no effort to find out the truth about what has been presented to them by the Tamil Diaspora activists, who in reality are LTTE fronts.

Under the guise of presenting themselves as good Samaritans, the Australian Greens have openly supported the LTTE if one accepts the obvious that there is no difference between them and the Tamil Diaspora activists.

If one accuses the Diaspora activists in having blood on their hands for what the LTTE did to the Tamils, and the entire country for nearly 30 years, one should pull no punches in saying the Australian Greens now have blood on their hands for supporting the Diaspora activists who are the same LTTE Tigers in Sheep’s clothing.

There is a pithy Sinhala saying that those who give shelter to a viper in their clothing, should not complain later that the viper is biting you (sarpayo sarama asse thiyagena, kanvo, kanavo kiyanna epa). Australian Greens are well advised to take heed and not take these Diaspora elements into their bosom and complain later that they are being bitten.

Australian Greens have taken a very partisan approach to an external problem. By doing so, they have alienated many non Sri Lankan Australians by showing their concern for an external issue while totally ignoring problems that Australia has within its own boundaries.

While it would have been well within their right to have expressed their concerns about various stories relating to the final war in Sri Lanka, and supported the honorable position that Australia should await the conclusion of Sri Lanka’s own independent mechanism looking into any alleged war crimes, Australian Greens have shown they have no regard for the sovereignty of another nation, its democratic ideals, its long history, its rich culture and its long standing friendship with Australia.

In the eyes of many Australians, the Greens party, although they have the numbers, has forfeited their moral right to have the balance of power in the Senate, as they have acted in an irresponsible manner not befitting a political group that holds the balance of power, and as they have sided with Australians with direct links to terrorists.

Australian Greens will pay a heavy price for what they have done to the fabric of Australian society by promoting division and discord, rather than promoting reconciliation, cohesiveness and unity. They will realise one day that Tigers never change their stripes and that they have been taken for a good ride by them.
