Year of the Dragon is a year for baby-boomers in China
The number of expecting mothers is record high in China in the year of the Dragon. According to the Chinese calendar the year of the Dragon falls on the 23rd of January (according to Gregorian calendar) this year.
Due to the strict one-child political policy in China, a substantial number of couples decided to wait with the option of having children until this particular year.
According to Chinese tradition and belief Dragon is considered to be the mightiest amongst the 12 animals of the Chinese Zodiac. In the Chinese Zodiac line up the dragon is the only fictional animal and it holds a very vital and significant role in the Chinese households. Dragons are not seen as evil or devilish rather the Chinese refer to the dragon as a symbol of power and wisdom.
Being born under the Dragon’s zodiac sign automatically implies that the person is powerful, wise, and an achiever in the eyes of the Chinese. Parents believe that when their child is born under the dragons zodiac sign, it will bring them joy, prosperity, fame and power.
As the Chinese are very devoted to the astrology and zodiac signs, it has led to the sudden boom in babies being born 2012- “the year of the Dragon”.
