Do you know House maid Indika Bandira Udapitiya?

House_maid_saudi_3.JPGThe Consular Division of Sri Lanka’s Ministry of External Affairs has sought the public assistance to find out the next of kin of House maid Indika Bandira Udapitiya who committed suicide in “Malas Ladies’ Prison in Saudi Arabia.

If any information is available regarding the deceased, please inform to the address, telephone and fax numbers and email address given at the end of this news report.

According to a press release Sri Lankan Embassy in Riyadh has been informed by the Saudi Authorities that a Sri Lankan detainee of the “Malas Ladies’ Prison”, named Indika Bandira Udapitiya has committed suicide. This Saudi detainee had been previously taken into custody on suspicion regarding the death of another Sri Lankan house maid. She was born on 05.05.1979.

Although her address is indicated as, No.117B, Makandana, Madapatha, Pilliyandala, no information has been received as far and no relative has come forwards to identify her body. A photograph of hers is attached herewith.
