Former Maldives President Nasheed Missing

Latest reports from Maldives reveal that the former President Mohamed Nasheed is missing and many supporters say he might be in the hands of rouge police and army men. Close aides suspected that he (Nasheed) might be in house arrest.

In the meantime, reports reveals that Sri Lanka Government and President Mahinda Rajapaksa are closely monitoring the developments in Maldives.

A Sri Lankan High Commission spokesman when contacted said that Sri Lankan Mission in Maldives brief the President of the development in Maldives on a regular basis and he described the present government in Maldives is an “unconstitutional Government”.

According to US State Department press briefing, US Assistant Secretary Blake is in touch with parties in Male and he is expected to arrive in Male on Saturday.
