Sri Lanka extends retirement age of public servants to 60 years
Sri Lanka had extended the maximum age for the government servants for retirement to 60 years from the current age limit of 57 years in response to many requests made to the government by the public servants, the Government Information Department said.
Earlier the maximum age limit was 57 years for government servants in the island nation and public servants who needed extensions had to get approval from the Heads of the Institutions.
Meanwhile General Secretary of Sri Lanka Independent Trade Union Federation has welcome the move and had made an request to the President Mahinda Rajapaksa to extend this facility also to the employees of the Statutory Boards and Corporations.
