Who will it be, John or Susan?

S.H.Moulana - Riyadh

Kerry_Susan.jpgIt is being strongly rumored that Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton would quit her job and will have a go for the presidency in 2016.

However, she has dismissed this speculation by saying that she was tired of being on ‘the high wire of American politics.’ It is recalled that she has repeatedly said on many occasions that her intention was to serve only one term.

I wonder whether she thought that Obama to be a ‘one term president’. Hillary Clinton’s departure from the state department, if that happens, would open up a vacancy for the US cabinet’s highest ranking post and the competition would be really intense.

The two strongly tipped front runners for the position are Senator John Kerry and the ambassador to the UN, Susan Rice. The lady in the UN, it is said, a veteran diplomat and foreign policy scholar.

John Kerry on the other hand is the chairman of the Senate foreign relations committee and former unsuccessful presidential candidate against George Bush. He too has good credential of his own. So, Obama’s new term is going to start with the biggest challenge of selecting a suitable replacement for Clinton if she decides to leave in January.

There is also a strong gossip floating around to say that Chelsea, Clinton's daughter will be a contender at the 2016 presidential election.
