The All India Ulema Council has condemned the silence of Nobel Laureate Aung San Su Kyi on the issue of state sponsored massacre of Muslims in Burma. The Nobel Laureate is on a official visit to India, these days.

It is to be noted that thousands of Muslim were massacred and lakhs rendered homeless in what has been called as a blood bath since early this year. Aung San Su Kyi who is now a member of the Burmese parliament herself has been a victim of state oppressions and has championed the cause of human rights, but her silence on this issue was not only surprising but condemnable.

Speaking to the press Maulana Mahmood Daryabadi. the Secretary General of the All India Ulema Council said "Aung San Su Kyi has failed to rise above ethnic divide, she is an acclaimed activist but when it come to speaking against the crime and massacre of Muslims she remained mute silent. We demand that our Indian Government should confront Aung San Su Kyi with the issue of security of Muslims in Burma".

He further added that the Muslim organisations led by All India Ulema Council shall pressurize the Indian Government to raise the issue of resettlement and security of those displaced by the violence and guarantees for their protection.
