Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between Sri Lanka and Burkina Faso

New Delhi, 17 November, (Asiantribune.com):

By signing of agreement by Mr. Prasad Kariyawasam, High Commissioner for Sri Lanka to India and Idriss Raoua Ouedraogo, Ambassador for Burkina Faso to India on 15th November 2012 at New Delhi, the Government of Sri Lanka and the Government of Burkina Faso has established diplomatic relations between the two countries.

It is expected that by the establishment of diplomatic ties between Sri Lanka and Burkina Faso would enhance the existing friendly relations and cooperation in the political, socio-economic and cultural fields for the mutual benefit of the two peoples.

It must be recalled that Bukinan Faso abstained from voting in the US sponsored resolution against Sri Lanka in the 18th session of the UN Human Rights Council, in March this year.
