Balasaheb Thackeray has died
Bal Keshav Thackeray or Balasaheb Thackeray, popularly known as Hindu Hriday Samraa. Shiv
Sena Supremo, Balasaheb Thackeray has died at the age of 86 one of his doctors said.
The end of Bal Thackeray came at 3.30 pm of 17 November 2012 following a heart attack. Bal Thackeray’s health was worsening since last few weeks and he was under treatment. Prayers of thousands of Shiv Sainiks failed at Bal Thackeray died.
Thackeray, who was admitted into a central Mumbai hospital in July, died of cardio-respiratory arrest at his home, the doctor, Jalil Parker, said.
According to a report, Shiv Sena chief was brain-dead and on a ventilator, is dead. They just pulled the plug. He was on life support since a week, with none of his organs (except his heart) working
Thackeray, the founder and president of the hard-line Shiv Sena (Tiger Army) party, was one of the most prominent and outspoken figures of India’s Hindu nationalist movement, and rose to prominence with his fiery rhetoric against immigration in India’s richest city.
Bal Thackeray was born on 23 January 1926. His father was Keshav Sitaram Thackeray who was a leading figure in united Maharashtra movement. Bal Thackeray started his professional career as a cartoonist in a English daily but afterwards left the job and started his own political weekly Marmik.
In 1966, Bal Thackeray formed Shiv Sena mainly to protect Marathi people from the growing power of Gujaratis, Marwaris and South Indians in Mumbai.
Till his death, the most controversial character in Indian politics Bal Thackeray continued his fight for Marathi speaking people and Hindu religion.
Bal Thackeray was anti Muslim and he used to openly admit it. On many occasions Bal Thackeray used to issue controversial statements.
Since last few years, Bal Thackeray kept himself away from public life.
