Sri Lanka Bar Association Absent And Unrepresented at the Mannar Case Against Minister Risath Bathiyutheen

Sri Lanka Bar Association which has been appearing all along, was absent and unrepresented at the hearing yesterday in the Mannar Magistrate Court in the case against Minister Risath Bathiyutheen.

The lawyer to Magistrate Anthony Pillai Judeson, the complainant in the case was also absent yesterday in the case in the Mannar Magistrate court.

Earlier, the case No B/408/2012 was taken up for hearing on 4th October and the Additional Magistrate of Mannar R.S.A. Dissanayake postponed the case for further hearing on 28th of November and again Additional Magistrate rescheduled the case for further hearing on 16th December.

Accordingly, the contempt of Court against Risath Bathiyutheen – Minister of Industries and Commerce came up yesterday before Additional Magistrate, Mannar R.S.A. Dissanayake for hearing.

At the outset the State Counsel informed the Court that the Attorney General has not taken any decision on the advice sought by CID, whether there is sufficient evidence in the incident where Minister Risath Bathiyutheen has denied and his private secretary has allegedly telephoned Magistrate Anthoni Pillai Judeson.

Subsequently, the Additional Magistrate put of the case for 10th of June 2013.
